2pm - 4pm, Sunday 19th June 2011
Five KESW pupils and seven staff participated this year. The Old Wits were Will, standing in for his dad Keith, and Sally, who were responsible for the organisation.
The forecast for Friday 17th June looked terrible at the beginning of the week – heavy continuous rain. On the day this did not put off the 50 competitors for the School/Old Witleian Golf Championship. The venue for the 32nd playing of the competition was Milford Golf Course.
That any play was possible, given the wet weather of the week before, was a testament to the grounds man, Colin Gould, and the porous nature of the underlying sandy soil. This was one of the youngest OW Cricket sides assembled in recent years and thanks go to Adam Judd for organising the team and it was pity that exams at Loughborough prevented him from playing.
The third week in June saw three OW and School Sports Fixtures take place.
.
On Friday 17th June some 50 competitors took part in the 32nd Golf Championship at Milford Golf Club. Steve Rayment won the OW Men's event and Harriet Swinerd the OW Ladies section.
.
On Sunday 19th a youthful OW X1 took on the School 1st X1 at Cricket. On a rain affected pitch they lost both matches. Meanwhile a small group of OW's were playing Mixed Tennis against staff and pupils.
.
Full reports on all of these events will appear shortly.
On a glorious sunny afternoon, a relatively young OW mixed hockey side took on an even younger School XI.
Alex Dickenson organised the OW side and with one or two exceptions, they were all recent leavers.
Such was the enthusiasm for the fixture that Alida von Boch had even travelled especially from Germany!
The 2011 combined School and OW Golf Championship will be held on Friday 17th June at Milford Golf Club. The format will be the same as previous years, with a dinner held at the school to celebrate the 32nd Anniversary of the competition.
Despite being outplayed for much of the annual cricket match v the Old Witleians the School's tail end batsmen defend well to ensure a draw.
This week three major sporting events have taken place:
.
The School and OW Golf Championship was well supported with 57 players and the main results are now available.
.
The OW v School 1st X1 Cricket match ended in a draw with the school's tail end batsmen resisting the spin attack of the OW's.
.

.
Thanks to everyone who took part and were involved in the organisation of these events.
