On Sunday, 27th September, (at the Opening of the King Edward’s School VivArtis Art Exhibition and Sculpture Trail), Mrs Jane Stopford Russell, Chair of the Haslemere branch of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies, presented the prizes to the winners of the Junior and Prep Schools Art Competition. She commented on the special relationship the Society has with King Edward’s. She was referring to their sponsorship of the competition and also the Society’s support, in the form of a scholarship, for an A Level art pupil at the school.

The judging committee was pleased with the delightful array of artwork from the children aged 9 – 13, and particularly impressed with the mature understanding of technique and colour exhibited.

The winners in the various categories were: Sophie Figueiredo (St Hilary’s), Lily Mendonca (St Ives), Nick Medcraft (Yateley Manor) and Annabel Fraser (Highfield).

VivArtis is open until Sunday 18th October from 10 – 5 and artwork from the following schools will be display at the weekends: Busbridge Junior, The Chandler Junior, Barrow Hills, St Dominics, St Ives, Haslemere Heights, Highfield, Yateley Manor, Barfield and St Hilary’s.
