The Old Tuck Shop Gallery's First Professional Exhibition

Tony is most well known for his portraiture – his work has been exhibited at the BP Portrait Awards Gallery several times, most recently this year, with a piece called ‘The Shooting Gallery’. His work also includes landscapes and still life.

On show at King Edward’s are over 100 pieces, including self portraits, a series of landscapes from his home town of Batley, in Yorkshire and still life studies of shoes, laying on floorboards. His attention to detail in these pieces is astounding, showing every little mark and blemish in the wood and reflections from the polish of the shoes.

As well as exhibiting, Tony has also held a series of workshops for local schools, including Loseley Field Primary Schools in Godalming and Conifers Prep School in Midhurst. During the three hour workshops, he explained to the children his different painting techniques and styles before then overseeing a session where they drew self portraits in the school’s art department using charcoal. He spent time with each child, helping them with their technique and some of the results were fantastic!

The Exhibition is running until 9th December and is open to the public, free of charge, by prior arrangement with the school (01428 686700).
