King Edward’s School Parents’ Association, for the second year running, ran a splendid supper and ceilidh to celebrate Burns’ Night.
A large number of Sixth Formers joined parents and staff and it was clear that everyone really enjoyed themselves.
The haggis was ceremoniously piped in by local piper, David Baillie, paraded and then set about by the Headmaster, Mr Kerr Fulton-Peebles, who regaled us in broad and traditional style, when addressed the haggis with the words of the immortal bard.
This was followed by an excellent meal produced by the school’s caterers, Holroyd Howe.
There was scarcely a seat occupied during the lively series of Scottish dances accompanied by the excellent band, ‘Fiddle and Squeeze’, and the evening ended with a rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’.
A KESPA representative said, ‘Our aim is to organise events that will be enjoyed by everyone in the King Edward’s School community, and I think we achieved that here.
We greatly appreciated the enthusiastic savaging of the haggis by the Headmaster, and it was lovely to see so many Sixth Formers dancing’.
