Largest Hong Kong OW Reception ever

The Excelsior Hotel, in the lively Causeway Bay area, was the venue for largest reunion for Old Witleians and parents from Hong Kong. Some forty five plus guests enjoyed the hospitality that the school provided in the Kellett Rooms of the Excelsior Hotel. Perhaps it was the presence of new Headmaster John Attwater and his wife Victoria that led to so many attending.

Guests arrived very early and by 7.30 pm the room was full and it wasn’t long before extra refreshments were ordered. There was a good range of Old Witleians represented including Maggie Lawton (70’s) Michael Duggan (80’s) and many from the 90’s including Magnum (Elijah) Tu, his parents and his young son who enjoyed playing with interactive tour on the school laptop, alongside many other programmes. Regular attendees included Becky Chan, Tommy Chan, Kevin Kwan, Stephen Hung, and Zenia Hon. From the 2000’s it was good to see Philip Chan, Peggy Fung, Amy Lai and Andes Wong. One OW who was missing was Eve Leung who got married over the weekend in Hong Kong and was on her honeymoon in Tokyo.

Current parents included Mr & Mrs Chow (Chowmaine-Queens U6), Mrs Cheung (Ankie –Elizabeth L6) Mr & Mrs Ng, Mr & Mrs Tsang (Yu Ki – Grafton 4th) Mr & Mrs Yang (Anson – Edward Pre-IB) and Justin Ng(Grafton U6) and Julia Chan (Elizabeth U6) who had returned from school for half term.

.

There were several prospective parents that we had met at the Academic Exhibition at the weekend and they were all impressed with the enthusiasm and interest of the OW’s and parents in the school.

.

John and Victoria Attwater were kept very busy meeting everyone and they clearly enjoyed the occasion. Time flew and 9.30 arrived all too early, although some of the younger OW’s continued to reminisce in the Dickens Bar in the hotel.

.

I would like to thank everyone for attending and making the evening a really special event, which I am sure we will be able to build on in the future. My apologies if I have missed anyone out but not everyone signed in the Visitors book.
