2008 Hong Kong Reception

***image3***

Gwyn Phillips (Deputy Head) hosted a buffet reception for OW's and parents of current and former pupils of King Edward's on Tuesday 28th October 2008 in the Caernarvon Room of the Hong Kong Club. .

.

This was the biggest gathering of OW's and parents in Hong Kong since the school started holding receptions six years ago. The venue was ideal as it is centrally located in Jackson Road and a w ell known landmark in Hong Kong.

The staff at the Club were extremely hospitable and the quality of the food and drinks were impressive. The buffet table was set off by a stunning ice carving of a fish.

.

Many of the parents of new Hong Kong pupils attended and they discussed how their sons and daughters were settling into school. They all seemed very pleased and they were able to be taken through the first progress review of the term.

There was a real mixture of OW's including some regular attendees. Magnum Tu who was able to bring his wife along for the first time, remembered with affection singing with the choir and practising piano in the Music School. A group of mainly ex Tudor girls added glamour to the evening and they wanted to know what has been happening at the school and how Mrs Green was (Housemistress of Tudor). They included Karen and Irene Chiu, Becky Chan, Maggie Lai and Anita Cheng.

.

Becky Chan has just completed her degree in Architecture and is still living in the UK. Maggie Lai works at Hong Kong Airport and her sister Amy is also in the same industry working for a Middle East airline in Dubai.

.

Rob Hewitson is working as a ship broker in Hong Kong and his brother is based in Bangkok working for the Intercontinental group and I hope to visit him on the final leg on my Far East Tour.

.

I was able show them all the school DVD and the Expedition to Thailand produced by the Chaplain, Rob Millington. Time flew and before we all knew it 10 pm was fast approaching and we had to depart. I hope everyone enjoyed the evening and I look forward to the next  time we can all meet in this lively city.
