John David Longbottom, a pupil in the 1930s, died on Sunday 10 October 2010, at the age of 90.
After serving in the RAF during WWII, John moved to Colchester, becoming catering officer at the local hospital. It was there that he met his future wife Robina, with whom he later settled near Ipswich, raising two sons. Throughout his life, he was an avid sports fan, a keen dinner party host and a dedicated and accomplished gardener.
