Golf at King Edward's

KES GOLF FLOURISHING AT MILFORD GOLF CLUB

For the last year pupils, staff and parents from King Edward's have been taking advantage of the excellent golf facilities at Milford G.C. Milford is part of the Crown Golf UK group and at just two miles away from the school is very convenient.

Last July some fifty members of the school and the Old Witleians Golf Society took part in the School and O.W. championship there, on a glorious sunny day. Since then the school has taken out a corporate membership of the club, which allows members of the school to eight rounds per month.

Since September an enthusiastic small group of pupils have benefitted from playing on the course and receiving tuition from club professional Paul Creamer. This is part of the schools co-curricular programme and during the winter terms takes place on a Wednesday afternoon. In the late spring and summer it is planned to hold a number of internal school competitions and matches with other schools and local clubs.

The school is fortunate to have a number of low handicapped golfers amongst the pupils so they should be able to field a strong team and will certainly test the staff later in the term. Stewart plays off 8 and last year was Junior Captain of the Hindhead Golf Club, so he is the most senior player at the school. This term we hope his experience will help some of the younger players.
