As in recent years, the format comprised registration and group tours of the school, followed by a Chapel service. This in turn was followed by a reception and sit-down lunch, with teas being available later in the afternoon.
The Chapel service was well attended and the now customary inclusion of the School Hymn appeared to receive widespread approval.
The pre-lunch reception, held in the Dance Studio, had an added dimension this year - music from the enthusiastic and talented School Jazz Band. Well done to all the players!
Another novelty was the holding of the Old Wilteians AGM towards the end of the excellent luncheon. This certainly achieved the intended much higher level of attendance. Recognition was deservedly given to Chris Lack for his 50 years - yes, 50 years - of OW Chairmanship. While promising to aim to maintain Chris's high standards, his successor Fred Deane feared he might not manage to hold office for so long!
After lunch, as well as school sports matches and the VivArtis 2007 Festival exhibits, this was the first opportunity for most of the OWs to view the new all-weather playing surface, on what many will remember as the sand field, beneath what was then the Oceanography building.
As always, all the visitors were grateful and would wish to thank those involved in setting up this enjoyable day - not least the Catering Manager.
